Day 59

Thank You, Pope Benedict : : Today was the last day of Pope Benedict XVI's reign. He stepped down from the office at 8 pm, Rome time. We will miss him terribly, but look forward to meeting our new Holy Father!

Spring Blossoms : : Haven't spent much time outside the past few weeks due to illness that is running rampant through my family. But I'm truly enjoying these Spring blossoms through my window each morning as I glance outside.

Baby Morning Toes : : I love to see these little tootsies in the morning!

Cinnamon Streusel Sour Cream Coffee Cake : : Monday mornings are becoming a regular date breakfast at a delightful little bakery. This morning they had this delicious coffee cake sitting in a domed stand on the counter. I couldn't resist ordering a slice.

Now You're Two! : : It was my niece's birthday this past weekend. She turned 2. I love how the light of the candle lights up her face. 

Day 54

Here Comes the {Toilet Paper} Bride : : I'm cheating a bit on this as I took it on Sunday afternoon, but there were no photos on Saturday as I was laid up sick all day. :( This was at my friend, Meghan's bridal shower. Jess, dressed in white, was chosen as the winner of the "Dress the Bride" contest. I took this over the shoulder of my friend as she was attempting to choose the winner.

Day 53

Standing on Her Own : : She received this exersaucer from a friend and just loves it! She's been wanting to stand on her own practically since she was born, and now she is able to do so. Makes her one, happy camper. {I took this at a high ISO as it was late at night and very little light. I lightened the color to offset some of the 'noise.'}

Day 52

Omnivore Books : : This quaint little shop is tucked away on a residential street in San Francisco. It is located in the neighborhood's old butcher shop. (The owner even uses the old freezer as a work room!) It is full of all books related to food. I finally had the chance to stop in here after learning about it three or four years ago.

Fun with Mr. Octopus : : She loves this little guy. She'll spend an hour playing with him. Have to admit, he does have a great smile. :)

Rainy Day in February : : We had a quick storm today which should clear out by tomorrow. It brought a bit of rain to us (a bit of snow to the mountains), and made for some gorgeous photos.

Mirror Fun : : She just loves her reflection in the mirror! It is so much fun to watch her interact with herself in it. :)

Red is the Rose : : A beautiful red rose from my Love. <3

Day 47

Roasting Red Peppers : : Working on a post for my food blog today. I haven't posted in almost a year! It was my first time roasting red peppers. Usually, I just purchase the ones in a jar, but they were super easy to do. Definitely worthwhile when the peppers are on sale!

Balloon Fun : : We had some fun today playing with the Valentine balloon my husband got for Valentine's Day. My daughter was fascinated by the reflection and texture of it.

My Valentine : : My little one was finally feeling a bit better today so I took her 3 month portraits in a Valentine outfit her grandmother gave her. I gained inspiration for this shot from Mother With Design in a shot she took of her son for her 365 Project. It helps us focus on those little details we might otherwise miss in a shot.

Day 44

Chin Up : : My daughter is in remarkably good spirits for being so sick. As you can see here, she developed pink eye from her infection. She's still full of laughter and smiles, although they are a bit muted.

Rest : : My poor, little one is still fighting off this nasty cold. She developed several infections because of it. Boo. :(

Day 42

A Rosey Morning : : This was taken at our favorite breakfast spot which we've been visiting religiously for several Mondays in a row now. They always have beautiful fresh flowers on the table which is one of the draws of visiting this place so frequently. 

Day 41

The Living Room : : I captured the reflection of our couch in the picture on the opposite as the light came streaming in through the window at midday. Good practice for shooting in manual focus. 

Day 40

Violin : : This beautiful instrument hangs on our wall. I purchased it last year after renting it for a year. I attempted to learn it on my own after a few lessons from an amazing violinist friend of mine. I have not given up. It has not been forgotten. I hope to find time soon to continue.

Day 39

Sick Eyes : : My poor daughter came down with her first cold this morning. Just like her mommy and daddy, she shows it in her eyes. They were red, puffy, and droopy. Hope she's better soon.

Day 38

1st Valentine : : This is my daughter's first Valentine. Her grandparents gave it to her today along with a silver jewelry box and locket. I hope every Valentine throughout her life is as special as this. 

Day 37

Socked In : : Woke up to some very thick fog (typed smog first -- that's what you get for living in California!) this morning. Played around with different shutter speeds to let varying amounts of light in. Liked this one the best at a speed of 125. It allows for a slight amount of color in the trees, but mostly silhouette.

Day 36

Crayon Smash : : While we were out walking today, saw this crayon explosion all over the asphalt. Someone must have dropped their bag of crayons. Then, it was run over repeatedly. Gave the photo a boost of overexposure to bring out those bright colors.

Day 35

Here's to One Year! : : My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary this evening. We enjoyed a delicious dinner of slow-cooked lamb in red wine sauce with creme de choufleur on the side. These beautiful glasses were given to us by one of my bridesmaid's but we hadn't used them yet as I found myself pregnant shortly after we returned from our honeymoon, unable to drink wine. We decided tonight would be a good night to break them in.

Day 34

Superbowl XLVII : : A disappointing game to a San Francisco 49er's fan, but fun to watch nonetheless.  Congrats, Ravens.

Day 33

Blazing Sunset : : The sunset this evening was spectacular. My husband commented that it appeared as if the roof was on fire. It kind of does look that way....

Day 32

Frustration : : My daughter has begun the quest to roll over. She gets really frustrated after she's been trying for a while and is still stuck in her original position. This was her this morning attempting a roll over but to no avail.
