Peach mojito : : Pulling out the bag of summer time drink tricks now that the real heat is hitting. This was made with fresh peaches and mint from our yard. Delicious and refreshing.

Exhausted : : Not the best of photos but expresses how we both feel today: exhausted.

Summertime Flu : : Poor girl came down with some nasty summertime bug today. Hope she can sleep it off quickly.

Standing Tools : : My red mixer is, by far, her favorite thing to use to stand up. Not sure if it's an indication that she wants to be a baker, likes the color red, or nothing in particular.

Lush Virginia : : (I missed a day here so I'm sharing an extra photo from our trip.) Virginia's greenest time of year -- the opposite of California -- is summertime. Those warm, summer rainstorms turn everything a vibrant green color. This was the view from the B&B we stayed in the first night of our trip.

Sweet Summer Rain : : It was unseasonably cool today with quite a shower outside. We loved sitting cozy in our blankets, watching the rain fall from indoors.

Get Well Flowers : : The move coupled with the long cross-country journey has taken its toll on me, finally. I was feeling rather under the weather today, and my sweet husband brought these home for me. <3

Good Morning Stand : : We slept in a bit this morning after our harrowing, long journey the past few days. When my little one called to me upon waking, I found her like this in her crib. Yup, standing up. Big girl. (!!!)

Day 169

Stuck at the Airport : : It has been a long 48 hours. First, a cancelled flight. Then, a delayed flight. Then, a missed flight. Then, an overnight in Los Angeles. Hopefully, this is the end of a long ride home. (E has been fantastic through it all!)

Day 168

Snacking Before Our Flight : : We got to the airport very early after our cancelled flight at noontime, since it was a different and unfamiliar airport. We had plenty of time to unwind with a snack and a glass of wine (for mommy and daddy) while we waited for our plane.

Happy Father's Day, Daddy! : : For the full last day of our Virginia adventure, we spent the day exploring old town Alexandria. We made extra sure to celebrate E's Daddy today on this Father's Day.

Congratulations, Andy and Joyce! : : We attended our friend, Andy's wedding today in Williamsburg, Virginia. He and his lovely bride were glowing. It was a beautiful day.

Gardens of Monticello : : It was hard to choose a photo to share today as I captured many great ones on our Virginia adventures. But it was hard to pass up this one with a pop of red in Monticello's gardens. I don't think I've ever seen such beautiful gardens before in the USA.

Christ the King Chapel : : A sudden rainstorm hit while we were exploring my alma mater today. I took this while we were waiting in the car to go inside the chapel on campus.

Flying to DC! : : We're taking our daughter on her first cross-country trip today for a friend's wedding. This was at our lay-over in Dallas. She's a great, little traveler!!

Fresh Berry Tart : : Made these scrumptious tarts from scratch with fresh berries from the farmers' market for a post-dinner treat tonight.

The Wonderful World of Linnea : : I was absolutely ecstatic when I found these today at the local used bookstore. Linnea was one of my favorite storybook characters growing up, and the doll I had/have my daughter has taken a particular liking to. Can't wait until she is a little older and we can enjoy these together! :)

Shortcake in a Mason Jar : : My dear friend threw a baby shower for her little sister today. These tasty treats were of her making, including the beautiful stand she created.

Early Morning Farmers' Market : : Although we arrived shortly after they opened this morning, it was already way too hot to be outside at the Saturday farmers' market today. Quick look through the stalls and then home to the air conditioning....

Sleeping Away the Morning : : Although she is a bit of a bedhog (as is clear from this photo), it is hard to disturb her because she is just so darn cute, even when she is sleeping.

Maple Bourbon Pork : : My husband is a true BBQ gourmet. He made this delicious maple bourbon glazed pork tenderloin for dinner tonight, via an indirect cooking method on the bbq. Amazing.

Traveling By Ergo : : We've switched to the side-carry on the Ergo so E can see better when we are traveling/shopping. She loves to observe what is going on around her.

So Much Space : : This makes my heart happy. Just in time for my little one to really start moving, we have a new place where she is able to do just that to her heart's content.

Grill, Daddy, Grill : : E's new favorite pasttime is sitting at the window, observing Daddy as he grills.

BBQ Love : : The set-up for the new bbq was a success. Can't wait to enjoy some tasty meat hot off the grill!! (After it moves outside, of course.) ;)

Baby Bottle Chug : : Perfect game for baby showers involving persons of the male persuasion: baby bottle chug. (The guy on the left one as he chewed the top of the nipple off so it would come out quicker. Not sure whether that was cheating or genius. ;))
